Starting Therapy: I encourage people who are curious about therapy to come in for an evaluation. We will take 3-5 sessions to begin the process and see if therapy might be helpful for you. I am also happy to have a preliminary phone conversation if you have questions about therapy.
Initiating therapy can be an intimidating process for some people. If this is true for you, it may be helpful to think of it as a choice to take advantage of available resources. Turning to treatment sometimes happens when emotions have become too big to manage alone but a crisis isn't the only reason to seek help. If you are finding that you are in relationships where you feel stuck or unsatisfied, work situations where you are not performing as well as you would like, or situations where you find yourself taking actions that seem counterproductive or self-destructive, you might benefit from therapy. You do not have to untie these knots by yourself. Talking with a therapist is a positive step you can take to begin to understand where things are in your life. Stepping into a therapeutic relationship teaches you how to function in a relationship where you are allowed to share all of who you are. In a safe environment you have the opportunity to take a close look at what works and what doesn't work in your life.
